Oh... Alright... (1964). add image  Image Source: https://theconversation.com/roy-lichtenstein-had-only-one-great-idea-in-his-pop-art-but-made-the-most-of-it-84630 Here are my progress images of the process of making my pop art study of Roy Lichtenstein's work: Final Piece:

Experimenting with Collage

For this topic I have looked at a range of images of different types of collage and the range of things other people have done when creating their collage art pieces. Some use a range of texts and typography to create portraits, whilst others used clumps of colours to create images of fruit or flowers. I have also started to collect materials to begin making my own collages. As it is very uncommon for people to buy and own magazines nowadays I am collecting the free Tesco food magazines as they are easy enough to get your hands on, it is also quite uncommon for people to buy newspapers on a regular basis and I also have to frames to use to make my collage pieces on and in.

Frank Bowling - Experimentation

I was inspired by frank Bowling to use emulsion paint on cartridge paper with soft pastels to create a piece similar looking to some of franks piece, the soft pastel wasn't as pigmented where I had put the emulsion paint creating a different texture in my work.

Frank Bowling - Canvas Pouring

To create these pieces I used the paint from the paint poring prints, pouring both the acrylic paint and the oil paint in a range of colours, the oil paints separate from the water based acrylic paint mix to create the splatters and designs you can see below.

Paint Pouring

For this process first I filled a tray halfway with water  I then mixed up my paint colours using both poster paints and oil paints mixing each colour with either linseed oil or white spirit. For my first attempt I used a pink colour pallet making a range of pink shades of paint along side red white and a few purple shades.  I began by pouring my different colours in the water filled tray, then using the end if a paintbrush to mix the colours to create a nice pattern in the water. I then placed a piece of paper onto the patterns then lifting the paper off to reveal the pattern that has now been printed onto the paper. I repeated this process numerous times to create a range of different patterns and pieces. After all the paper was dry I picked the pieces that I thought worked best an put them in sets to be mounted to display in my exhibition.
