Pop Art - Photoshop

 To create a similar effect as Andy Warhol's piece: I used Photoshop to create my pieces changing the saturation and the hue of my images to create 6 different coloured versions of my image to try and achieve a similar effect to Warhol's piece of Marylin Monroe.

Tate  Art Term Pop Art "Pop art is an art movement that emerged in the 1950s and flourished in the 1960s in America and Britain, drawing inspiration from sources in popular and commercial culture. Different cultures and countries contributed to the movement during the 1960s and 70s" Pop Art was first introduced in Britain in the mid 1950's and then in America in the late 1950's then going on to reach its peak in the 1960's. The art form was started as a way to go against traditional views of art and the culture of art, but instead embrace popular media such as pop music, advertising, comic books, product packaging and Hollywood movies, to appeal to a mass audience.   A pop artist named Richard Hamilton wrote a letter to his friends in 1957 which listed how he described Pop Art - "Pop Art is: Popular (designed for a mass audience), Transient (short-term solution), Expendable (easily forgotten), Low cost, Mass produced, Young (aimed at youth), Witty, Sexy, Gimm...

Andy Warhol.docx Andy Warhol was a pop artist who focused his work around advertising, celebrities and artistic expression. He is most well known for his work in the style of pop art. in the 1960's he created some of his most famous work such as Cambell's Soup cans, dollar bills and Marilyn Monroe. The Factory, the studio where he created his artwork later became a hotspot for celebrities and creative people to meet. Warhol worked with a range of different media including, paint, sculpture, printmaking, film and music. He wrote numerous books and  also started up his own magazine, Interview Magazine. in the 1970's he produced a number of works for celebrities like John Lennon and Diana Ross and later went onto open the New York Academy of Art. How reliable is this source? I believe this source to be reliable as it outlines a number of facts about Andy Warhol, i only chose to write about the information I thought was relevant.
